“In vessel composting” is a very suitable technique for mass reduction and/or stabilisation of (sewage)sludge, thereby reducing the incineration/landfill costs of (sewage)sludge.  Mass reduction is achieved by the degradation of organic matter and the evaporation of water. The heat needed for the water evaporation is produced by the composting bacteria, which are also responsible for the degradation of organic matter. The Christiaens Group is experienced in designing and building cost effective sludge composting plants.
